To my Valentine

Posted on February 14, 2012

I’ve never been good at expressing feelings or sentiment vocally. But lately i’ve found a new voice in the written word. That said, here is a special Valentine note for my wife, friend, partner and lover: Jennifer.

I kissed you in November and never felt the icy rain.
I kissed away your tears from your sorrow, joy and pain
I kissed you in December when the cold of winter came
and we joined our hearts and lives together when our love became the same.

You kissed me back in the Spring with a passion never witnessed
and you kissed me back in the Fall when I thought our love was gone
You kissed me back in October as we found again the strength,
to trust once more in each other and renew the love we missed.

We kissed each other through the night and often into day.
But I let my kisses falter as I let my love go slack
not knowing that each kiss I missed I never woud get back.
I had to learn to kiss again so that never it could be said
that our “love grew old and whispered cold”, and thus yout heart would stay.

And now I thnk of all the days and kisses that I missed
and how I could have squandered, what for granted that I took.
A love that almost I let past and slip between my grasp,
for lack of kissing you, my love, and giving you my best.

Happy Valentine’s Day Jen.
All my love and renewed kisses
